HISTORY OF BARANGAY TACULING
According to legend, an ex-captain of a ship bought a large tract of land in a place which is now known as Barangay Taculing. For sentimental reasons, he named his newly acquired property Taculin, in memory of his ship, Taculin. In this land area, wild grapes, which the natives called “tuling”. Because of this, the people called this place Taculing that was before the ex-ship captain bought it. The local people began calling the place Taculin or Taculing. The peculiar connection in the place’s designated and former name may be having been destiny or coincidence.
To eliminate the confusion and indifference to the wishes of the people, the Barangay Council of 1964-1968 passed a resolution officially calling the place Barangay Taculing. The resolution was a motion Council Ivan Solidum duly seconded by Council Rodolfo Aspan.
The offices of the City Mayor, City Council, City Superintendent of School, City Treasurer, Division of Superintendent of School of Negros Occidental and the Secretary of Education of Manila were each furnished a copy of the resolution.
Since then, our barangay has been legitimately called, Barangay Taculing.
