Barangay Montevista, Bacolod City, was formerly the Low – Cost Housing Project 13 of the People’s and Housing Corporation (PHHC), now the National Housing Authority (NHA). The site for his housing project was donated by Capital Subdivision, Inc., owned by Alfredo Montelibano, Sr. and family, on September 1956.
The name “MONTEVISTA” was chosen by the Tenant’s Association then of this new community. It derived its name from Monte because it faced the Mount Mandalagan in the east and also in honor of the Montelibano family and Vista said mountain.
Barangay Montevista was created as a Barangay on May 1, 1962, per City Ordinance 141, Series of 1962 of the City of Bacolod.
