Barangay 34, like most Urban Barangays in the City of Bacolod, was created by virtue of the Presidential Decree promulgated by then, President Ferdinand E.Marcos in 1973. This was done through a citizen’s assembly. On September 21, 1974, Presidential Decree No.557, created these Barangays such as all powers, functions, and responsibilities as stated in the Revised Barrio Charter (RA 3590) was assimilated by the Barangays. On December 19, 1985, City Ordinance No. 08 was created approving and adopting the delineation of boundaries of sixty-one (61) Barangays in the City of Bacolod.

 

   Barangay 34 transformed from its notorious past into a God-Fearing and bustling community of friendly, creative and business-oriented people. Its original settlers are known to be knowledge in the barquillos and piaya industry that even up now Barangay 34 is branded by tourist as “The Barquilos and Piaya Country”.

 

   Under the able and active leadership of Hon. Richard C. Sason, the incumbent Punong Barangay and with the efforts of the members of Sangguniang Barangay as well as the support of our constituents in this community, Barangay 34 became known for its participation          in the several programs and projects of the city. This is the source of never ending inspiration and admiration of the various Barangay of this city.

 

   There are still various problems facing this community, but with the tireless efforts, continued support and cooperation of our constituents, the sangguniang Barangay of Barangay 34 can easily and readily overcome whatever difficulties it still has to undertake.
