CITY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICE
Barangay 27 was created by the City Ordinance No. 08 dated December 27, 1985 as approving and adopting the recommended definition of boundaries of 61 Barangay of Bacolod City.
Barangay 27 covers a total land area of 5, 068.93 hectares. The boundary of the Barangay starts from the Gonzaga Extension in the south, Galo extension in the north and Lopez Jaena Street in the West and Masungay River in the East.
The Barangay is composed of six Puroks namely: Purok Acacia I & II, Purok Cheriza I & Cheriza II, and Purok Star Apple I & Star Apple II. The first Barangay Captain appointed by the late Mayor Carlos Benares was Mrs. Laura L. Blasi. This was followed after the lapse of 10 years period when Parliamentary Bill No. 2125 was filled by the Batasang Pambansa calling for the Election of of Barangay Officials. The Election Bill was enacted into day on March 23, 1982 and approved by the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos on March 25, 1982. Mrs. Laura L. Blasi was elected as the first Barangay Captain rises by the name of Mrs. Myrna B. Obligar one of her elected Kagawad before and by the majority votes of the constituents of Barangay 27, Mrs. Myrna B. Obligar becomes now the Barangay Captain.
Barangay 27, is noted as the Furniture Center along the Highway of Lopez Jaena Streets wherein you can buy affordable and quality home and office furnitures and this wood industry helped most of the residents as their source of income.
In case of furniture needs, different kinds of furniture been displayed along Lopez Jaena highway for this serves as a Landmark that one can easily locate Barangay 27, Bacolod City.
