                Barangay 10 is one(1) of the forty-one (41) urban  barangays which was created by virtue of Presidential Decree by the late Pres. Marcos in 1973(June 24).

 

                Barangay 10 traced its beginning to a small site called Mambuloc. The original settlers are from Oton Town of Iloilo who are selling fish nets, abaca net and the famous hablon, then the rice traders from Dumangas came.

 

                Pala-pala the place where the catched fish are bought and sold was a once in the barangay. Then fish Vending and fish drying were the basic industries in this place. The dried salted fish called “Binoro” sold in Bacolod’s Market were from this place.

 

                From this place came the Lipas, the fish owner of the several Fishing Fleets. Also the Cronologias and the rojos who wer dried fish dealers. These capitalist provided jobs to inhabitants where they went to the towns of Negros to sell dried fish and Bagoong. They are known as “Bolanteros”

 

                As the years go by Barangay 10 become a bustling community. People settled in this Barangay. To date the small population has grown from a handful to what it is now.

 

                This Barangay 10, this is ashoreline barangay. This is the home of Bredco.  This is the premier point of Bacolod.

 

                The first Barangay captain appointed is Mr. lacson in 1973. With just three (3) Purok, Purok Gugma, Dughan, and Kasing- kasing.

                The first elected barangay Captain was Mr. Felixberto P. Verba Jr.  Under whose administration Brgy. 10 expanded to six (6) Puroks, Puroks Tambi-Palad was added, Purok Kabuhi and the latest was Magtiayon. Under his stewardship and with the support of the Barangay Council and the people, Barangay 10, won several awards, foremost among this awards were the cleanest and the Greenist Barangay in 1997, Champion in the Maskara Dance festival 1998, and the well-lighted Barangay during the Christmas Season for several years.

                 When Edsa came, Mrs. Nena Destua became the Barangay Captain, and when election was again held Mr. Felixberto P. Verba Jr. was again the Barangay Captain followed by the late Mr. Josue “Magong ” C. Makilan.

 

                The incumbent Punong Barangay today is Eduardo M. Cordova elected last October 25, 2010.
