            Barangay Bata was originally called Hda. Bantud owned by the Lacson families. The 365 hectares land was located at the boundary of Bacolod City and Talisay City, where the name Bata derived for Bacolod and TA for Talisay.

 

              Before Bata got its name it was sold by the Lacson Family to Charles Newton Hodges an Irish national residing in Ilo-Ilo City who converted the sugarcane, rice fields into a subdivision.

 

            Through the effort of some residents with MR. RESTITUTO A. ABARING ON THE LEAD, THEY INITIATED A PETITION WITH THE City Government of Bacolod under Mayor Felix Amante, Bata was declared a Barrio on August 25, 1955 and it was separated from Barrio Mandalagan and MR. RESTITUTO A. ABARING was very first barrio Lieutenant appointee.

 

            In September 24, 1974, where all barrios all throughout the Philippines were declared Barangay by the Late President Ferdinand Marcos through a Presidential Decree where Mr. Restituto A. Abaring was the very first elected Barangay Captain. He took a rest for his 4 terms and again run for the position and govern the Barangay for several times.

 

            Barangay Bata was composed of Hda. Lourdes Puentebella, Villa Valderama, part of Hda. Sta. Maria and Bata proper. It is composed of residential areas partly for agricultural planted with sugarcane, rice fields root crops etc. it has a total land area of THREE HUNDRED SIXTY FIVE (365) hectares more or less.
